About Us

This blog is the result of being quarantined with your 81 year old master chef grandma.

May we all be so lucky.

I often stand in awe of Mrs. Little when she is in the kitchen. Even at 81 years old, my grandma moves around with almost magical efficiency, whipping up authentic Jamaican recipes which hit the spot every time. I am blessed to be treated to something jerk (usually chicken) at least once a week. As my bananas start to spot, I cross my fingers that aroma of banana bread will permeate the house soon. I had to find a way to share this joy with the rest of the world, especially during this COVID crisis when we can all use the love and care of family.

Mrs. Little hails from St. Elizabeth in a place so rural I have never heard of it :-). Her parents were farmers so her relationship with food started very early. She is a veritable root vegetable connoisseur; she can readily identify every variation of yam. I always thought they were either sweet or yellow. She spent most of her life cooking for others, honing her skills from the island of Bahamas to sunny Orlando. Her specialties quickly became jerk chicken and velvety smooth and rich fruit cake. Mmmmmm.

I convinced her to start this food blog to share the joy her knowledge and love of food with the rest of us mere mortals. I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as we do.
